Greetings 3A Parents and Guardians,
It
is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your child to my third-grade
classroom. I am so excited to meet and get to know all of you. As a Great
Hearts teacher, my classroom culture is joyful and dedicated to virtue and
academic rigor. We will spend time reading well written literature, discuss
deep questions, and persevere through challenges. I look forward to watching
your child grow into a virtuous leader and lover of learning who
enthusiastically embraces what is good, true and beautiful.
This is my second year teaching at Great
Hearts -Archway Arete Academy, but I am not new to teaching third grade. I have
been a teacher for more than twenty years. Most of which I have invested in
teaching third graders, but also first, second and fifth graders. My original
Bachelor’s Degree was received in Economics and Political Science. I went back
to school for an Education Degree after I had spent some time volunteering in
elementary classrooms while in the United States Air Force and it was suggested
that I pursue teaching. Since then I have earned my Bachelors and Masters
Degrees in Education. Most of my teaching years were in Montana and three in
Arizona. I love teaching mathematics, science, writing and watching students
achieve at higher academic levels than they ever thought possible. Seeing my
students identify their talents is so very exciting, as well as helping them
develop greater confidence in areas that they may have judged themselves as
deficient. My intuition is strong in identifying children’s personality traits
and skills. Teaching is my passion and I pursue success in my students.
My personal story began in a smaller town
in Wisconsin, along the shores of Lake Michigan. After college I moved around while
in the United States Air Force for thirteen years (Charleston, South Carolina;
Dinant, Belgium; Great Falls, Montana), spent almost twenty- eight years in
Montana and now reside in the east valley of Phoenix. I love the outdoors and
many activities related to it. Running, kayaking, hiking, yoga/Pilates, skiing,
camping, golfing and bicycling are just some of the things I enjoy when
outside. I enjoy reading when I am not outdoors. Between my beautiful wife and
I, we have 5 adult children that reside in California, Idaho, and Arizona. In addition, we share our home with one golden
retriever pup (Niko).
I am absolutely thrilled to have the
opportunity to work in partnership with you and your child. Each day I will
give my very best at delivering relevant and valuable instruction to your
child. Thank you for this high honor of being your child’s teacher. Contact me

Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin Udovich – third grade teacher,
